Lumecca IPL

What Makes Lumecca IPL Different?**

Lumecca distinguishes itself from other treatments and IPL treatments because it attracts pigment much more effectively but requires less energy. What that means is less discomfort and downtime, and a lower risk of possible damage to the skin.

Lumecca treatments are faster than other IPL devices, requiring only two treatments instead of the typical five or six.

And the results last longer, meaning you can enjoy your smooth, clear, refreshed skin longer term.

Key Benefits

  • In just 1-3 treatments, you can improve the appearance of age spots, and vascular lesions - such as spider veins and poikiloderma, rosacea, freckles, and sun damage.

  • High efficiency of treatment due to high peak power and optimized output.

  • Complete photo rejuvenation in 1 or 2 treatments for most patients versus 4-6 treatments with standard IPLs.

  • Reduces treatment time thanks to large spot size and high pulse repetition rate.

  • Strong sapphire cooling tip results in higher treatment comfort.

What Can Lumecca IPL Treat?

Lumecca IPL treatments can improve a wide range of skin concerns, including the following:

  • Freckles

  • Vascular lesions

  • Sun damage

  • Age spots

  • Hyperpigmentation

  • Rosacea

  • Capillaries

  • Broken blood vessels on the face

  • Acne scars

How Does Lumecca Work?

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light is used in a handheld device that penetrates selectively deep into the layers of pigmented skin. The spots, lesions or other pigmentation irregularities absorb the light, and this destroys them. The skin is left smooth, the texture evened out, acne is reduced, and rosacea and other irregularities are resolved.

What Happens During The Lumecca IPL Treatment?

We will start by applying a cold gel to your face and providing you with protective eyewear. We will pass the Lumecca handheld device over your skin, which applies wavelengths of IPL into the deeper layers of your skin.

When the pigmented cells absorb the light, they are destroyed and broken into tiny particles, which the body can then flush away naturally. The IPL is absorbed into the pigmented areas, leaving the surrounding skin free from damage.

Lumecca IPL Benefits

Lumecca IPL provides a number of benefits for patients with pigmentation concerns, including:

  • Non-invasive treatment

  • An ideal treatment for both light and dark skin tones

  • Includes a sapphire cooling tip which makes the procedure more comfortable

  • Rejuvenates and revitalizes the skin

  • Smooths the skin texture

  • Evens skin tone

  • Resolves pigmentation concerns, including freckles, lesions, age spots, and more

  • Reduces rosacea

Waxing

Can I wax during pregnancy?

It is generally considered safe to wax during your pregnancy. Your hormones are in overdrive so you might want to wax more regularly.

Do you use hard or strip wax?

We use both hard and strip wax. However, we ONLY use hard wax for facial services and intimate more sensitive areas. We feel hard wax is better for these areas because it shrinks wraps around the hair removing fewer dead skin cells. This helps to lessen irritation and ingrown hairs.

We use strip wax for legs, arms, chest, and back for a combination of reasons. We feel that it helps exfoliate the skin as well as removes unwanted hair. It also allows for faster waxing which means less time in the room for you.

Why is waxing better than shaving?

When you shave, you're cutting the hair at the surface of the skin. This usually only leaves your skin smooth for a short period of time. When you wax, you are removing the entire hair shaft root. This leaves your skin feeling smooth much longer, without stubble. If you're a regular waxer over time your hair will grow back thinner and finer.

How long does waxing last?

This varies from person to person. Typically we ask our clients to return in 4- 6 weeks . We all have three different stages of hair growth and consistency with waxing is key to get all your hair in the root stage. The best way to stay on a good routine is to pre-book your next appointment in advance.

I use Retin A/ Differin/Tri-luma/ Tretinoin/ Obagi/ Hydroquinone/Accutane. Can I still wax?

Clients that use Accutane/Isotretinoin CANNOT wax for a minimum of six months after completely stopping the use of these products. If you do not stop using these products you can cause the skin to lift and have unsightly skin irritations. However if you are using topical creams you can wax if you discontinue use for a week prior and after your waxing services.

How long should my hair be?

Hair needs to be ¼ inch length. A good rule of thumb is the size of a grain of rice. For most people this means two-three weeks after shaving. Hair that is too short may not have the best results and will result in faster regrowth.

Can I tan?

Refrain from tanning 48 hours before and after being waxed. Your pores are open and tanning can cause congestion and breakouts.

Can I wax while menstruating?

Yes you can. We tend to be most sensitive a week prior as well as when we are menstruating, however all of our pain tolerances are different. We recommend taking ibuprofen for some pain relief 20 min prior and a hot shower to loosen the follicles.

Is Home Care Necessary?

Yes. Home care is a must to ensure the best results. Start your home care the day after receiving your waxing treatment. For best results we recommend both manual and chemical exfoliation. We recommend using either exfoliating gloves or an exfoliating brush 2-3x a week with our Pure Clean Exfoliating Scrub. We also recommend using Serious Serum Every Day to help with ingrown hairs on a cellular level.

Microneedling

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a new innovation in aesthetic treatment used to help the appearance of fine lines, acne scars and improvement of the skin’s overall appearance. During this procedure, we create controlled micro-injuries to the skin, resulting in the production of collagen and elastin. Automated micro-needling also creates superficial micro-channels through which topical gels, creams and serums can be penetrated deeper into the dermis to help further improve the appearance of the skin.

What are the benefits?

Microneedling can significantly reduce and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars and stretch marks.

Does it hurt?

No! We use a topical anesthetic to alleviate any pain. You may feel a slight tickle or vibration but nothing more.

What is the downtime?

Immediately after the treatment your skin will feel warm and have some redness. The total healing time varies from client to client. On average, clients are red for up to 2 to 3 days. Many patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours. You are able to wear makeup after 24 hours to help elevate redness.

When will I see results?

Clients notice an immediate “glow” to their skin. Visible changes to the skin develop over the course of several days to weeks and results can continue to improve up to 6 months after a treatment as collagen production continues.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your skin concerns and goals. Some clients only require a single treatment once per year to kickstart their collagen production. However, it is recommended for most to receive a series of 3-4 treatments spaced about 6-8 weeks apart. For deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks, or acne scars it is recommended to receive 6-8 sessions at 6-week intervals.

Chemical peels should be avoided if any of the following conditions are present:

  • Active cold sores, herpes simplex, or warts in the area to be treated

  • Wounded, sunburned, or excessively sensitive skin

  • Accutane use within the last year

  • History of recent chemotherapy or radiation therapy

  • Allergies to aspirin

  • Women who are pregnant or actively breastfeeding

  • Patients with Vitiligo

  • Patients with a history of autoimmune disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, etc) or any condition that may weaken their immune system

Facials

How often should I get a facial?

Facial frequency depends on the condition of your skin and what your skin goals are. Ranging anywhere from every few months to every other week. It’s very important to maintain your at-home skin care regime. 80% of your skin's results will happen from proper at home products and a consistent routine. The best results come about when we work together on your skin care goals and needs. Think of us as your skin's own “personal trainer”! Can I get a facial if I am pregnant?

Absolutely. With your hormones going crazy, your skin probably is as well. Our products are gentle but yet effective!

Can I wear makeup after my facial?

You sure can. Some people love that post facial glow and do not feel the need to wear makeup. But your skin will continue to glow even if you apply makeup post facial.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is an advanced skincare service that involves using a surgical scalpel to lightly exfoliate dead skin to reveal baby smooth skin!

Can I wear makeup after Dermaplaning?

No. The skin is more delicate than usual after dermaplaning which can make it more irritable and reactive. Give your skin about a 24 hour break before applying makeup.

Chemical Peels

Can I exercise after a chemical peel?

Wait a minimum of 24 hours. Exercise can produce heavy sweating and should be avoided the day of the peel. You may resume all regular activities the next day. Your pores are open for the first 24 hours and we do not want to have any bacteria clogging your skin because this can cause irritation and breakouts.

What do chemical peels do?

Chemical peeling helps resurface the skin by inducing a controlled wound and thus removing superficial layers of the skin. As a result, chemical peels promote the growth of a new healthy top skin layer and improve skin problems like hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven texture as well as skin impurities.

What should I expect during treatment?

Procedures may vary depending on the type of chemical peel chosen. Skin is prepped using a medical degreaser to ensure the treated area is free of any oils left on the skin. The chemical agent is then applied. Most clients feel a mild activity, tingling, slight heat, and stinging which is temporary and usually subsides after a few minutes. Some peels are designed to self neutralize and may remain on your skin.

How long is the recovery after a chemical peel? Recovery times will vary based on the type and strength of the peel. Immediately after the peel, your skin will feel tight, dry and may look red. Any visible peeling will be light and fluffy and easily controlled with moisturizer. Peeling usually lasts 3-5 days, depending on the actual peel treatment.

What type of aftercare is necessary?

Use of gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen is EXTREMELY important, as it will enhance the healing process and results. Normal activity may be resumed after the peel, however strenuous exercise and heavy sweating should be avoided for 2-3 days. Sunscreen should be used daily. Sun exposure should be avoided while skin is peeling; exposure of treated skin to a lot of heat should also be avoided as it may induce swelling, redness, and for deeper peels, blisters under the skin. Peeling skin should be allowed to slough off naturally; picking or peeling of flaking skin is prohibited, as it may lead to scarring. Use of prescription topicals should be avoided for 3-5 days post peel.

Why did I not have any visible peeling after my peel?

The success of the peel should not be judged by the amount of peeling, but by the end results that the peel will produce. The amount of peeling may vary depending on individual skin conditions at the time of the peel or the depth of the peel. Some clients will not experience any peeling at all. Regardless of the degree of peeling, the skin is working internally and externally and is still sloughing off at an accelerated rate, resulting in the improvement of skin tone and texture and an improvement of fine lines and uneven pigmentation.

What products or procedures should I avoid before a chemical peel?

1 week before the peel, avoid waxing, electrolysis, deploritory creams, and laser hair removal.

2-3 days before the peel, discontinue using any prescription topicals such as Retin-A, differin, or Tazorac, as well as any products containing retinol, alpha hydroxy acids (AHA), beta hydroxy acids (BHA), or benzoyl peroxide.

Clients who have had any medical cosmetic facial treatments or procedures such as Laser treatments, cosmetic fillers, or other surgical procedures should wait until skin sensitivity has completely resolved before receiving a peel. (About 2 weeks)

What are the contraindications to chemical peels?

Chemical peels should be avoided if any of the following conditions are present:

• Active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area to be treated

• Wounded, sunburned or excessively sensitive skin

• Accutane use within the last year

• History of recent chemotherapy or radiation therapy

• Allergies to aspirin

• Women who are pregnant or actively breastfeeding

• Patients with Vitiligo

• Patients with a history of autoimmune disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, multiple sclerosis etc) or any condition that may weaken their immune system
